Cool fonts are a must have for every blogger! There are many very nice font sites that offer free downloads. I personally think you should never need to pay for them! Check out these sites:
1) www.dafont.com
2) www.fontfreak.com
3) www.fonts4free.net
4) www.fontsquirrel.com
5) www.fontspace.com
6) www.1001freefonts.com
When you have chosen a font, look for a download button. Once clicked, it will ask you where to save it to. It is very important to remember where you save it, and the name of the font.
Once your computer has downloaded the font, which is very fast, navigate to the folder where your font was placed. If your font was placed into a zip folder, you will need to unzip it so you have the raw file for the font. I usually ask it to extract in the same place so I can keep track of the file. It should load right next to your zipped file with the same file name.
Now is the tricky part. Depending on what kind of a system you are running will depend on how you actually load this font into your Font folder. You may be able to right click on the font file and get a menu that will have the option to Install. This is a nice option because it will install into the Font file without you having to manually load it. If you have this option, you are DONE!
If the Install option does not appear for you, we’ll go a different route. With your folder still open that contains your font, also go open another file. We are going to find the Font folder on your computer.
1. Pull up your system menu
2. Click Computer, Local Disk C, Windows, FONTS
3. Double click on the Fonts file to open it.
4. Now with both windows open you should be able to drag your new font from your download location into your Fonts file.
My system asks my permission to install, so if a box pops us and ask for permission, click on Continue.
And there you have it. A simple and easy guide to download fonts to your hearts content!!
